What can Zen have to do with photography?

Positive samadhi

As with many arts such as archery, caligraphy, bonsai, or the tea path, there is the concept of positive samadhi. A state of “non-thinking” in which the consciousness is completely absorbed in what one is doing. For the western minded person perhaps also imaginable, like a musician becomes completely one with the music and his instrument. No longer distracted by the thoughts and problems of daily life. I also strive for this state during photography.

Be empty, so you can see with an open mind.

Every day the priests study the Dharma very carefully and recite the difficult sutras endlessly. But before that, they should first learn to read love letters sent by wind and rain, snow and moon.
